Meta Platforms has built a humanoid prototype with the Chinese robotics company Fourier and is already developing a second version, according to a report by The Information on 31 October 2026 that cites people familiar with the initiative. The two companies built the robot, known internally as Max, in three months, and it weighs roughly 106 pounds, the report said.
The Information said Meta built Max as it steps up work on robots for people's homes. According to one of the people it cited, Max was meant to help the robotics arm work towards a more finished product, and no launch target had been set.

Reuters, which carried the story at 17:13 CET, said it could not immediately verify the report. Meta told The Information its work with Fourier was for internal research and experimentation, and it had no plans to sell the robots, Investing.com reported. Polstob found no comment from Fourier, and Meta's newsroom had no statement on the robot, as of 22:50 CET on 31 October.
