The release says the ₹2,422 crore of one-time prior-period revenue arose primarily from a revision in historic energy charges under certain power purchase agreements (PPAs). In the filed results it is made up of ₹2,424.62 crore of revenue from operations and a net reversal of ₹2.37 crore in earlier-year other income. The notes tie such amounts to orders from regulators and courts, including MERC, CERC, APTEL and the Supreme Court, and to reconciliation or settlement with state distribution companies over change-in-law claims, carrying cost and delayed payment interest. The release's reported profit before tax, excluding a ₹3 crore share of associate loss, was ₹6,792 crore, against ₹3,966 crore a year earlier.
Excluding prior-period income and expenses, continuing EBITDA, a measure the company defines, rose 18.5% to ₹6,321 crore, and continuing profit before tax rose 32.5% to ₹4,370 crore, according to the release. The company does not give a continuing or like-for-like profit after tax. Total continuing revenue rose 28.5% to ₹17,528 crore, which the release says was in line with volume growth and improved power selling rates. Power sold rose 11.5% to 26.4 billion units and the plant load factor was 70.1%, against 62.8% a year earlier.
Tax was a net credit of ₹231 crore in the quarter, against a charge of ₹1,060 crore in Q2 FY26. The filing says the quarter's tax includes a reversal of ₹1,211.43 crore of current tax expenses: after 10 wholly owned subsidiaries were amalgamated into the company, effective 25 September 2026, tax for the year to 31 March 2026 and the quarter to 30 June 2026 was recomputed.
Profit attributable to equity holders of the parent was ₹6,919 crore, against ₹2,953 crore a year earlier, and basic and diluted earnings per share were ₹3.59, against ₹1.53. Net debt stood at ₹45,846 crore at 30 September 2026, against ₹45,022 crore at 31 March 2026, the release says.
