The largest adjustment was a non-cash $124m impairment of Whirlpool's equity-method stake in Whirlpool India, which the company says followed a prolonged fall in that company's stock-market value. A $54m charge relates to the bankruptcy reorganisation of a significant Latin American trade customer: $46m of credit losses after expected credit-insurance recoveries, plus $8m of other direct costs. Restructuring cost $35m. By segment, MDA North America net sales fell 8.3% to $2,495m, a decline Whirlpool puts down to soft industry demand. Its EBIT fell to $74m from $134m, though the company reports a sequential margin improvement from price increases and structural cost cuts.

“Our structural cost take out and pricing realization drove consecutive margin progress through Q3. While the pace of recovery is slower than expected, these actions are setting a clear path for further improvements in 2027.”

MDA Latin America grew net sales 6.9% to $858m, but its EBIT fell 61.3% to $18m; Whirlpool says mix shifts after Grupo Casas Bahia's bankruptcy reorganisation pressured the margin.

Over the first nine months of 2026, free cash flow (non-GAAP) was an outflow of $1,081m, against an outflow of $907m a year earlier. For the full year Whirlpool still sees operating cash flow of about $700m, as it did in August, while it now expects free cash flow (non-GAAP) of about $300m, against more than $300m then. It now expects net debt below $4.5bn at the end of 2026, against below $5.0bn in the August outlook. Chief financial officer Roxanne Warner said the company has kept a clear debt maturity ladder until 2028. Whirlpool has announced a 7% price increase in North America effective in the fourth quarter and increases of up to 10% across Latin America.
